Pain remains the most unrecognized and missed problem in our pets. The inability of our pets to tell you when they are pain has caused suffering for many of our pets.
Pain comes from many causes either as acute pain or chronic pain. Acute pain is easily recognized as it is generally obvious and distressing. Chronic pain is often the problem being subtle and accepted by the animal as the way of life. In older pets it is often brushed aside as”getting old” or ” slowing down” Age is not a disease, but the pain is.
There are many options to treat various causes of pain including pain medications, acupuncture, and laser therapy. As a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) and member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, it is my goal to help each of us recognize the pain in our pets. None of us want a family member to be suffering in pain. If you are interested in learning more about pain management for pets contact Cornerstone Animal Hospital today.
